Thoughts on The Prestige (2006)

It's not every year that we see a movie as mind-boggling as this one. Granted that I was a good 6 (nearly 7) years late, The Prestige proved to be a truly genuine experience. And a treat to watch.

Fresh off the Dark Knight Rises, I've become a little obsessive about Christopher Nolan's work. Having watched Memento and Insomnia, I thought, 'Those were 2 amazing films, why not give this a shot?' And it didn't disappoint.

Christian Bale and Michael Caine reunite with Nolan to accomplish what very few films have done. That is, create the ultimate drama combined with mystery and intrigue. Not to mention Hugh Jackman is also in this movie which kicks it all up a notch. The Prestige is full of twists and can best be described as a 2 hour long roller coaster ride.

The plot surrounds professional magicians Alfred Borden (Bale) and Robert Angier (Jackman) as they go head to head in uncovering each other's secrets. Bounded by jealousy and hatred, both their personal lives and skills are put to the test.

I was surprised that Nikola Tesla (not often remembered but deserves most of the credit for Electricity as it is used today) also makes an appearance. A sort of dull but mysterious character. Yet one who serves his purpose in the story. He basically makes machines for rich people and conducts funded after research. Tesla can best be described in the film as a facilitator for the magicians and a motivator for ending this feud as consequences would be dire.

With a conclusion that blew my mind, the Prestige was totally worth the watch and goes down as one of my must-watch movies.

P.S - I really find this idea of having a 'mistress' while having a wife at the same time rather amusing. If not annoying -raises eyebrow- Don't judge me.

Thoughts on Episode 1 - The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3

Gone are the days where we sit and wait in anticipation of a video game alone. Nowadays, we've got tons of gameplay footage, cinematics and teasers, and even episodic shorts to expect. Here's what I thought...

Godzilla Meets Power Rangers? - Pacific Rim Official Trailer

I think Godzilla alone would be the proper term to describe the following film. Although I do see some elements of Power Rangers in it as well, Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming sci-fi 'save the humanity' flick looks like a wild ride.

Personally, the first part of the trailer sort of reminds me of that Battleship film with Rihanna and Liam Neeson..and that Taylor Kits..John Carter. -.-' That film was a travesty. Avoid at all costs!

Pacific Rim though, looks brilliant! Coming soon in 3D.

VIPRE - A Slithering Antivirus That Efficiently Protects Your PC

This post brought to you by GFI. All opinions are 100% mine.
I haven't had the best of luck with antiviruses in the past. Personally, I find that keeping something as heavy as Norton or as tedious as McAfee on a PC means sacrificing performance for paranoia. What if there was a program, lighter than any antivirus out there, but a whole lot more efficient? This is where GFI Software's VIPRE Antivirus 2013 comes in.

I didn't expect much from Vipre when I first installed it, but boy
was I surprised when I saw it working. Not only was it super easy to install, but if you already have an antivirus on your pc and would like to give this a shot, VIPRE uninstalls that antivirus with one click so that you don't have to worry about it. In fact it took me less then 1 minutes to get it up and running.
Remember that over populated interface of Norton full of buttons that didn't need pressing and information that didn't need attention? Say good bye to that! VIPRE 2013 tells you what you need to know in a very intuitive, clean and organized manner. Double click the icon and you're presented with a screen which gives you a simple overview of how VIPRE is protecting your PC. Three green checkmarks: Scan, Protection and Updates mean that your computer is virus-free. VIPRE works in the back while you are busy going about your day-to-day routines checking emails, Facebook, Twitter etc.  Through the 'Manage' tab you can easily schedule scans with a few clicks, check VIPRE's history report, and check for updates.
What I loved most about VIPRE was it's simplicity, in that it is so light on my machine and totally frustration free. No longer do I have to see that annoying pop-up prompting me to run virus scans. VIPRE will do that for you!
So what's the final word, Omar? Well, 69.99 for a 1 yr subscription which you can use with over 10 pcs? OF COURSE ITS WORTH IT! I for one approve VIPRE Antivirus 2013. And I'm sure you will too when you've allowed the good folks at GFI Software to protect your PC from harmful viruses. Head on over to Vipre antivirus software

Man Of Steel Poster Surfaces In Anticipation Of The Dark Knight Rises DVD/Bluray Release

Warner Brothers cleverly rewarded Superman fans and those anticipating the release of Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel by releasing a poster for the film along with the DVD/Bluray release of The Dark Knight Rises. This doesn't come as a surprise though since Christopher Nolan is producing the new take on Superman.

Check it out...

In all seriousness, he looks pretty good. We can only assume - again, this is an assumption so don't mistake this for a spoiler - that this could be a foreshadowing of the fact that Superman and the police/army/or whatever authority will be at odds. Kind of like Batman and the Gotham City Police.

Do you think this Superman will be worth the wait? Comment away!
